Hi, I’M shannon…

Nearly 18 years ago, I was diagnosed with postpartum depression while pregnant with my first son. I went to therapy and was intermittently on different medications, all while working as a bartender and server. I decided to go back to school to establish myself in a new profession, and as an attempt to heal my depression. I always had an interest in nutrition and dietetics and I knew that I wanted to be of service to the people in my community. After a five-year educational journey, I became a registered dietitian. Working in the field of dietetics made me realize that it is difficult to discuss a client’s diet without also considering other factors that contribute to their behaviors and lifestyle choices. I knew that to be truly effective, I would have to go deeper into the lives of my clients.

My own habits began to change around this time. I began to exercise more frequently and to practice yoga daily. I recognized that my depression decreased as my spirituality grew. It was clear to me that training to become a yoga teacher and reiki master would enable me to better support my clients. I personally utilize yoga, reiki and other wellness tools to stay connected and grounded. These life changes have impacted my wellbeing in ways beyond what I thought possible and I hope to share them with you. I remain open and am in constant training to faithfully grow and evolve.

My intention for Enliven Wellness is to serve in a way that allows for me to live out my true purpose, and form a connection where the client knows they are seen and heard. Namaste.

My approach…

My intention is to support you in experiencing more joy and presence in life. Also, to help you feel reenergized and gain some clarity in the direction you choose to go. Each person is unique and tools to lead you on your path vary. I use my education, along with my intuition and experience in wellness to help support and guide you. My education and experience working as a registered dietitian gave me the scientific tools to make specific recommendations for you. As a dietitian, I experienced working with people with varied health conditions, such as cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, disordered eating, and many others. As a yoga instructor, I have learned how to connect my breath with my movement, and utilize the breath in everyday experiences, to reset and calm the mind. As a reiki master, I have learned all about universal healing and the chakras. Additionally, it has brought me closer to understanding the energy we all have within us. Reiki is also a great tool for helping you to calm the mind immediately, allowing new information to be received. Each session can consist of using one of these tools, or even all depending on your needs.
